About Girls in Tech Scholarship

A recent study in 2020 by BCG: Boosting Women in Technology in Southeast Asia found that Indonesia has the lowest share of women at technology companies (22%), in line with the lowest percentage of women in the overall workforce (32%).

Taking the baseline of the above data, we initiated the first batch of Girls in Tech Scholarship in 2020 with an aim to provide direct access to technology courses to all girls and women in Indonesia, to help them jump start and upskill their career in technology. This first scholarship was initiated with our strategic partnerships with Education New Zealand and Hacktiv8, resulted in more than 400 applicants from all over Indonesia and 18 selected awardees as the first batch of GIT Scholarship alumni. The first program spans for about 5 weeks, and through TECHTalk, awardees can present their final project to the public; to inspire more women to kick-start their careers in tech.

In 2021, we launched the 2nd batch, which resulted in applicants from 50+ universities in Indonesia and 9 selected awardees as second batch of GIT Scholarship alumni. 3 outstanding awardees from this batch received a paid internship from Qasir, our startup partner, for 3 months, where they got to apply their bootcamp learnings to real business case studies.

Persyaratan

Must be a full-time student in the final year, currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in Indonesia

Must be a citizen of Indonesia

Must be pursuing a degree in the field of Information Technology

Preference will be given female students

Must be able to provide motivation letter as per required (Min. 1000 words and Max. 2000 words)

Must be able to fully participate in a scholarship program from onboarding until graduation

Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is required
